Pine Lake's Municipal Arts Panel launched "Pollinator Picnic," a Community Art project celebrating Pine Lake’s status as a Bee City and its Monarch Waystation, on Saturday, August 24, 2019. That same day, the City of Pine Lake helped make Pollinator History by participating in Georgia's first Great Pollinator Census!
On the morning of the Pine Lake Pollinator Count and Picnic, volunteers from SEED led a Guided Pollinator Count at the Clubhouse and Art Wall so that neighbors and visitors could act as citizen scientists during the Census. From noon to 2 p.m., participants were also invited to picnic, enjoy music, meet pollinator experts, and make Art.
During the afternoon, the "Pollinator Picnic" collage was installed on the Art Wall; a picnic was held on the lawn, with live music by Veronika Jackson and Emily Bacus (of "Total Babe"). Volunteers from Monarchs Across Georgia were on hand to provide information and supervise kids' activities.
“Pollinator Picnic” is the second public art exhibit in the City's ongoing “Public Works at Public Works” outdoor exhibit series. The Public Works Art Wall centrally located across from the Pine Lake Clubhouse on Clubhouse Drive, opened in June of 2018. In August of 2018, the area also became a Monarch Waystation.

Painting Pollinators!
Neighbors and friends painted pollinators and flowers for the "Pollinator Picnic" community collage. Templates were distributed at the 4th of July Picnic, and artists helped install the collage on August 24. More than 60 artists contributed artworks to "Pollinator Picnic," now displayed on the Art Wall.
